Why circulating tumor cells

CTCs are the cells that leave a primary tumor, travel through the blood, and seed new metastases. They are the mechanism of metastatic disease, the leading cause of cancer death.

CTCs are also relatively rare, which is why they have been so difficult to study at meaningful scale. TzuFetch was designed to solve that.

CTC enrichment & isolation

Standard blood draws capture only a handful of CTCs at best, and often too few to analyse reliably.

Our TzuFetch technology has the ability to screen large blood volumes, recovering over 200 times more CTCs than conventional methods.

This clinically validated approach provides the material needed for molecular analysis.

Molecular characterisation

Once isolated, CTCs are profiled at single-cell level across three dimensions: genome-wide mutational profiling, full-length mRNA sequencing, and multiplex surface protein expression analysis. The result is a comprehensive molecular portrait of the cells driving metastasis, including the heterogeneity and co-expression of targets on single cells.

Bioinformatics & target identification

Our growing database of CTC profiles enables screening for target combinations that are highly expressed on metastasising cells and, co-expressed on CTCs. This data-driven approach guides the selection and development of therapeutic candidates.
